Longines Elegant Collection

The Longines Elegant Collection

//

Longines has a long watch making history, that dates back to the early 19th century. The historical values of this Swiss mason are Tradition, Elegance and Performance. Elegance is therefore in its mission statement.

Longines Elegant Collection 8This fine stainless steel timepiece for her belongs in fact to the Longines Elegant Collection. The case has a round shape, the dial is anthracite, the hands are silver polished and there are baton indexes – and no diamonds at all. Some may say it’s nothing special, but in my opinion this watch is very elegant and feminine. The dial is not just matte grey, but rather sunray, therefore it reflects the light and creates some shining beams which nicely fit with the applied indexes.

Longines Elegant Collection 4Since Longines creates always not just three hands timepieces, the brand added also the date window at 3 o’clock which is plain and small and fits together with the elegant design. It would fit in my opinion even better if the background of the date would be the same colour of the dial and the date itself being white for it would have matched as it matches on the models that feature the white dial.

Longines Elegant Collection 5One of the pluses of this watch – in my opinion the best one – is the back case because it is made of sapphire crystal so you can fully appreciate the movement, that is not a quartz caliber as it is often used on a watch for her but rather automatic with the balance wheel vibrating at 4Hz. This sophisticated addition embellished already other Longines collections, but it is the first time on a female collection. The choice of making the movement visible gives a really nice technical touch to this ladies' watch.

Longines Elegant CollectionIf you also like a self-winding movement and the transparent case back but you are looking for a watch with an upmarket touch such as a mother of pearl dial and a case with diamonds – do not worry! The Longines Elegant Collection includes fifteen different classic models and provides something for every taste. And even if Longines introduced already collections both for him and her, the Longines Elegant Collection has been conceived just for her. In my opinion it's a pity this collection has just no steel case combined with a leather strap.

Longines Elegant Collection 7Beside the model I already wrote about, the Longines Elegant Collection includes five other timepieces with bracelet and case made of stainless steel, three watches with pink gold case and black alligator strap, plus six models with bracelet and case made from a mix of pink gold and stainless steel.

Longines Elegant Collection 11Its dials offer a wide selection as well. Most of them are white matt with painted roman numerals or applied indexes. The black sunray and silver striped dials have diamond indexes as well as the mother of pearl dials, while three are set with diamonds even on the case (one case features 56 and the other two models 52 Top Wesselton VVS diamonds). So the mother of pearl dial is always combined with diamonds even if, as far as I am concerned, a model with that dial and no diamonds at all would have been a nice addition to this collection.

Longines Elegant Collection 2The entry level model in the Longines Elegant Collection's line up, like the watch I wrote about, has a price tag of 1,212€. For the most expensive model, which is also on our pictures, the asking price is 3,090€. Even if the last one may seem a bit overpriced, let’s not forget the really and unique blend of the fine female design with the technicality of its automatic 4Hz caliber.
